WATCH: Grammy Awards Performance – Nicki Minaj’s EPIC FAIL!
It is a unanimous World Wide Web decision that Nicki Minaj’s performance at the 54th Grammy Awards last night was horrible, yuck, a confused mess and as one blogger put it; it was an overestimation of her her abilities.
What is disturbing is that she has openly acknowledged her very young female fan base, who are as young as six-years-old (why parents are allowing their six-year-old to listen to explicit music is another post altogether) and yet she continues to produce music that promotes and commodifies the objectifcation of the female body, mysogyny, hyper-sexuality, and now demonism.
Last night, amongst the plethora of music greats, old and new, who with a few exceptions offered flawless performances, Nicki Minaj paled pathetically in comparison. Theatrical posturing only works for those with the real musical talent to back it up, otherwise you end up looking like a crazed attention seeking desperate amateur actor cum singer/rapper.
From the strong reactions on Twitter and other social media platforms to her performance it seems people are finally bored of her antics. We hope Nicki reflects over this and begins to offer music of substance, or just solely pursue what seems to be her burning desire to act.

I feel a tad guilty as I am comenting without actually watching Nicky’s Grammy’s performance yet, as Gema rights wont let me access it in Germany. However I have to add my own tuppence here based on the other live performances I’ve seen of Nicky. I was never a fan of hers but in the past I could just about tolerate hearing her on the radio, but it seemed like the more commercial she got, the more ‘fashionably weird’ she became and her voice/rap adopted a really annoying, demented, comical twang. I hope she retires to her bat cave for a looooong while and does some serious thinking…
